World AIDS Day – 1st December

World AIDS Day is quickly approaching and this year we’re asking people to “WISE UP, SPEAK UP & REACH OUT!” against HIV stigma!!! 🎗️

This year, we will be visiting workplaces, colleges and community events to encourage people to:

Wise up: learn the facts about HIV,
Speak up: when they see or hear HIV stigma, and
Reach out: when someone needs support

🌍📢 World AIDS day takes place annually as a reminder of the global struggle to end HIV-related stigma and a day to honour those who we have lost.

Look out for our ads at bus stops across Perth & Kinross and on screens in council buildings. Join us in raising awareness and taking action against HIV stigma.

We also have some awareness raising events this week:

This is also an opportunity to raise awareness and WISE UP to the fact that HIV care has been revolutionised in the last 30-40 years. Whilst there is still no cure, the treatments available today are so effective that someone with an undetectable HIV viral load on treatment cannot pass on HIV This is known as Undetectable = Untransmittable, or U=U.

People living with HIV can live full and healthy lives.  However the major challenge is…

Stigma, and fear of a negative diagnosis, can prevent people from getting tested. A delay in diagnosis can lead to poorer health outcomes, and the risk of HIV being unknowingly passed on.

Stigma means that people living with HIV can face hostility, verbal or physical abuse, and barriers to participating. People can experience stigma in any areas of their life: from friends and family, at work, and from services.

So… Wise Up 🦉. Speak up, 📢 Reach out 💗!
