Dundee City Council and Perth & Kinross Council have both signed up to become Fast Track Cities and along with NHS Tayside and our partners we are committed to a Tayside in which there are zero new transmissions of HIV, zero preventable HIV related deaths and zero HIV related stigma by 2030.
Fast Track Cities (FTC) supports the UNAIDS 95-95-95 HIV prevention targets to ensure over 95% of individuals with HIV are aware of their diagnosis, over 95% of those are on treatment and over 95% of those on treatment have an undetected viral load.
Our local implementation plans will build on our existing work and resources to meet the Fast-Track Cities commitments. The roadmap shows how we plan to achieve this in Tayside.
We have developed a local strategy to support our work.
How to get involved
Community involvement is a key part of Fast Track Cities. If you have lived experience of HIV and would like to get involved, we would love to hear from you. There are a range of ways for you to share what matters to you and inform this work in a way you feel comfortable with. From simply emailing us, to being part of a group, you can see all the options below:
Waverley Care lead FTC in Scotland and coordinate a national Community Panel. The panel is made up of people living with HIV from across Scotland and meets throughout the year to discuss issues faced by people living with HIV.
Some participants attend online and face-to-face meetings. Others prefer to share their thoughts and experiences individually on the phone or via email.
Involvement in the panel is financially reimbursed. For more information and to get involved contact anna.cowan@waverleycare.org
Our groups meet online throughout the year to take forward specific areas of work with members from health and social care, local authorities, academia, statutory services and the voluntary sector. We want to ensure the views of people living with HIV, their carers and the wider public are heard and inform our work.
Current Opportunities
Fast Track Cities Dundee and Perth Steering Group – FTC Dundee and Perth is the workstream with responsibility for local delivery of the Scottish Government’s HIV Transmission Elimination Delivery Plan and elements of the Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Action Plan for Scotland 2023-2026 that relate to HIV. This group sets the strategic direction for HIV work in Tayside and monitors progress of the plans.
HIV Stigma & Education Group – Operating under the FTC Dundee & Perth Steering Group, this group will develop and implement an action plan to eliminate HIV related stigma at personal, societal, and institutional levels in Tayside.
World AIDS Day Planning Group – Meeting to plan the local response to World AIDS Day on 1st December.
