Injection Equipment Provision (IEP) is a service that provides people who inject drugs with clean needles, syringes and other injection paraphernalia such as water, spoons and filters. They can also provide foil for smoking drugs. These services were previously known as Needle Exchanges.
Using a clean set of injecting equipment for each injection is vital to prevent collapsed and damaged veins. Sharing any injecting equipment, including water, increases the risk of getting a blood-borne virus (BBV), particularly Hepatitis C.
Along with clean equipment, IEP services can offer a range of harm reduction help and advice. IEP services can be found across Tayside. Look for this symbol in the window.
