“What’s Trending in Tayside?” – Teenage Pregnancy, Termination and STI Update 2025 Webinar

This session provides an up-to-date overview of teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV in in Tayside, in the context of the latest Public Health Scotland data, the session will:
- Explore national and local trends in teenage pregnancy, including outcomes of birth and termination, and how these are shaped by social determinants such as deprivation.
- Review patterns in chlamydia and gonorrhoea diagnoses, including age, gender, and sexual orientation trends, the implications for service delivery and prevention work, and signposting on how to access testing.
- Consider the policy context, including the Scottish Government’s Pregnancy and Parenthood in Young People Strategy, and how this is relevant to practice locally.
- Highlight the role of education, contraception access, and stigma reduction in supporting young people’s sexual health and wellbeing.
The update is aimed at non-sexual health-specialist staff across health, education, third sector and social care, who have an interest in improving sexual health outcomes for the people they work with.
Participants will gain an evidence-informed understanding of current challenges and opportunities, equipping them to better support people and contribute to reducing health inequalities.
